Frontline uncorked one incredible show last week called, “The Retirement Gamble.” The PBS main stay continues to earn its reputation as “the last best hope for broadcast documentaries.” I watched with eyes wide open on line long after the program aired. Yes, even our nest egg can be legally stolen by those we seemingly trust– our investment advisors.
Our 401(k) retirement accounts are also managed by faceless people in the case of a company account. Many of us have had the experience of seeing money go in month after month and yet the balance remains about the same. Questions arise. You will see one individual in the documentary who actually began a Master’s and Ph.D thesis on retirement accounts. The results are disturbing to put it mildly.
Without saying much more, I encourage all my readers to watch “The Retirement Gamble.” Take it in and be prepared to write down questions for your advisor or whoever manages your retirement plan. The link for the show is below.
We live in times where there can never be enough information to educate us. One minute we think we have a handle on it all and then, bang! Our world gets turned upside down. Series like Frontline give us a fighting chance to keep up with the learning curve.
With that thought in mind, enjoy the show. It lasts just under a hour. I guarantee you will never look at your retirement account statement the same way ever again.
